August 4, 2026 

HP released a firmware update on August 4, 2026, that impacted several cartridges and chips. How the firmware update is delivered:  

• This is a push update with no user intervention required to install 
• Static Control recommends that all customers turn automatic updates off.  
  
  

Key Information 

The following products will not be affected and can be identified:  

Cartridges:  

• Cartridges marked on the bottom of the box with A/B57 or R3 onwards will work. 

Chips: 

• Chips manufactured marked MFD 042326 and onwards will work.  

Next Steps  

• Static Control has a solution! Updated products are available. 
• Static Control highly recommends against automatic firmware updates. By properly managing  firmware updates, you can ensure your ability to continue to use fully functional, premium  aftermarket cartridges.
